Prime Focus World has completed the stereo 3D conversion of Warner Bros. Pictures blockbuster, 'Wrath of the Titans'. Almost 2,000 shots were converted to 3D using View-D™, Prime Focus World's proprietary 3D conversion tool, with work completed at its facilities in London and India. The Jonathan Liebesman directed fantasy feature is the sequel to 2010's 'Clash of the Titans' and is set a decade after Perseus' heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken. It follows the demigod son of Zeus as he bravely embarks on a quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind.
Creatively led out of London, the conversion was delivered by artists in London and India. Studio Stereographer Marcus Alexander worked closely with Prime Focus' Senior Stereographer Richard Baker to develop the film's 3D look. "Prime Focus welcomed the many technical challenges Wrath of the Titans presented with open arms, charging into the battle to ensure they could do justice to the film's heavy texturing and the scale of ancient Greece from a stereoscopic standpoint," said Marcus Alexander.
He added, "My intentions were to utilise 3D to serve the story, emphasising situations, characters and plot whilst reaching a new level of post conversion quality. Prime Focus worked to this very ethos ensuring creative intent never jeopardised technical quality and vice versa. A pleasure to work with, and with the workforce and worldwide pipeline, a powerful beast to have at your side - Prime Focus allows stereo creativity on an epic scale."
