Prime Focus has posted a two-part documentary for Love Productions. 'Underage and Having Sex' offers a frank and uncensored young person's view of one of Britain's most controversial dilemmas, as they and their families negotiate the minefield that is underage sex. The films begin on Channel 4 at 10pm on Monday 5th July and conclude on Thursday 8th July.
Episode 1: Three sets of parents confront the fact that their underage daughters are sexually active.
Fourteen-year-old Cheshona recently lost her virginity. She and her mum Danielle pride themselves on their trusting relationship. Now, Danielle has to decide whether to let Cheshona's 18-year-old boyfriend spend the night in Cheshona's bedroom.
Fifteen-year-old Hannah lives in Surrey with her mum and three older brothers. Hannah has been waiting for the right moment to tell mum she's no longer a virgin. When she finds out, the consequences are unexpected, but not unwelcome.
Fourteen-year-old Hannah lives in London. Although she's still a virgin, she's begun experimenting sexually with both boys and girls. Mum Sarah wonders if her liberal parenting style might be responsible for her daughter's behaviour.
Episode 2: In a close knit community of young families in South Wales the mums and dads are concerned that their underage teenagers have started having sex too young.
Thirteen-year-old Christopher has been having sex with his girlfriend for a year, despite his mum's best efforts to stop him. Will a heart-to-heart about her own teenage experiences encourage him to slow things down a bit?
Fifteen-year-old Angharad's parents have just discovered she's recently lost her virginity, and they've grounded her. But they can't keep her indoors forever, and have to decide whether or not she should start taking the contraceptive pill.
Prime Focus Colourist Graeme Hayes provided the grade, Dan Tagoe was the online editor and Ben Ormerod did the audio work.
