Tower Block of Commons.

Love Productions latest television series 'Tower Block of Commons' has been post produced at Prime Focus and takes a group of MPs and gives them an experience of the reality of life for many people up and down the country. The 4-part series is being broadcast on Channel 4 on Monday nights at 9pm and began on 1st February.

After a year of political crises in Westminster, the MPs head to some of the most deprived neighbourhoods in Britain to spend 8 nights in a council estate tower block, living alongside its residents. They will be given the opportunity to come face-to-face with issues that affect these people’s lives: including gangs, immigration, drug addiction, poverty, crime, housing and unemployment.

Tower Block of Commons looks at how the MPs cope with such dramatically different living conditions and if their experiences change their views on poverty, social exclusion, or how to find political solutions for the people and problems they meet.

Prime Focus colourist Graeme Hayes provided the grade, Barrie Pease onlined the series while the audio work was completed by Kevin Boyle.

"We were trying to keep away from a particularly urban look for the council estate scenes in the grade; we didn’t want it to be too clichéd" said Graeme Hayes. "A lot of it had been shot in the summer also so if you went too cold and grey with the look it would have looked a little odd. The only time I pushed the documentary style grade was when the MPs were shown in their normal lives and surroundings. This was given some more saturation and richness to set it apart from the other scenes. For some of the wide shots of the estates, I added a vignette to make it look a little more oppressive but without overdoing it."
