Prime Focus offers everything a feature film production needs - from neg dev and rushes transfers through to 35mm re-recording, digital cinema mastering and international video deliverables. The integrated, collaborative Prime Focus DI facilities in Los Angeles, London, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai work closely with the worldwide Prime Focus VFX studios to ensure that all of your feature film production requirements are catered for.
Production Suites and Cutting Rooms
Prime Focus offers production suites and cutting rooms. The cutting rooms can be hired with or without AVID workstations.
Rushes Service
Offering both 35mm and 16mm neg dev and a full HD / SD rushes transfer and sound syncing service, Prime Focus can also ensure that its DI colourists are available at this stage to work on the look development for your project, helping save time later in the process.
Digital Dailies
Once transferred, your rushes can be delivered to your chosen destination anywhere in the world via secure digital delivery or physical media.
VFX
The Prime Focus international VFX offering is second to none, offering some of the most creative and experienced VFX talent in the world and a VFX pipeline which ensures seamless working practices across the international facilities.
Film Treatment and Despotting / Dirt Fixing
Ultrasonic cleaning, repair, scratch treatment and film preparation prior to scanning ensures the best quality scan available and prevents extensive despotting and dirt fixing work later in the process. Should any remedial work be required post-scanning, Prime Focus offers a range of video treatment tools including Diamant 'Dust Buster', DaVinci 'Revival', MTI ‘Correct’, Archangel and Teranex systems.
Scanning and Conform
Prime Focus offers 4K, Super 2K and 2K scanning on Thomson Spirit DataCines, and both Northlight and ARRISCAN pin registered scanning.
For conforming Prime Focus has a tried and tested workflow using Autodesk Smoke, which allows the team to conform and hold an entire feature with immediate access to any section of the film. This ‘view’ is one that readily reflects the timeline of the offline making it user friendly for directors and editors. It also has the huge benefit of allowing the director to see shots in context, be they VFX shots or clean ups. The ease with which data can be moved between Smoke and the Baselight grading suites has further benefits, in that changes to the grade, changes to the shot and revisions shots can be moved quickly and efficiently between the suites, allowing the changes to be seen in context very quickly.
Titles
Utilizing the creative weight of its highly experienced digital artists, Prime Focus offers a full and integrated title design service for feature film projects.
Colour Grading
The most important part of the DI process. All of your image content is made available to the world-class Prime Focus colourists as data, allowing supreme flexibility and unfettered creativity in the suite. Again, the international Prime Focus facilities can work collaboratively to ensure that clients have access to the world’s best kit and colourists at three main locations around the globe - London, LA and Mumbai. Prime Focus offers both Baselight and Lustre non-linear grading systems, which in conjunction with the latest digital projectors forms an integrated network of DI grading suites which exceeds anything else in the marketplace. The only limit to what can be achieved in this arena is your imagination.
35mm Re-Recording, Intermediates and Release Printing
Using the industry standard ARRI Laser, Prime Focus can re-record your graded feature to 35mm digital negative and arrange a full package of intermediates, as well as your release printing.
Screenings
Screenings of your completed feature project can be arranged upon request.
Mastering
Once the theatrical deliverables are complete, Prime Focus can also help you with your post theatrical delivery package. From HD / SD video deliverables, sound laybacks, aspect ratio conversions and down / cross conversions through to digital cinema masters for digital projection, Prime Focus will ensure that your post theatrical deliverables will be faithful to your original vision.
