PFW VFX Breakdown for Resident Evil: Retribution

The Umbrella Corporation's deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race's last and only hope, Alice (Milla Jovovich), awakens in the heart of Umbrella's most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Prime Focus World is delighted to announce that it has delivered native 3D stereo VFX shots for the fifth instalment of the wildly successful Resident Evil franchise, Resident Evil: Retribution, from director Paul W.S. Anderson.

VFX work on the movie included on-set supervision and full VFX execution for the iconic ‘Axemen’ sequence, featuring oversized and grotesque villains dressed in macabre butcher’s outfits battling it out with our heroines in New York's Time Square.

In addition to their work on the villainous Axemen, Prime Focus World artists re-created New York’s Time Square to provide the stereo background to these scenes, which were shot in Toronto, and converted a mono sequence to 3D for the climax of the movie.
