'The Martian' takes Toronto International Film Festival by storm

Ridley Scott's latest sci-fi film 'The Martian' has premiered at Toronto International Film Festival, and the reactions are out-of-this-world.

Variety's Peter Debruge calls the film "an enthralling and rigorously realistic outer-space survival story" and feels that "'The Martian' should do far more than just make Fox a ton of money; it could conceivably rekindle interest in the space program and inspire a new generation of future astronauts".

HuffPost's Matthew Jacobs proclaims "'The Martian' is one of the year's best movies" and feels that it is "worthy of a Best Picture' nomination".

And Sean O'Connell for CinemaBlend singles out the 3D in the movie for special mention, writing "The 3D is spectacular, and it puts you inside the suits, inside the ships, and on Mars’ landscape… which sounds unfeasible but I’m telling you, it has happened here."

You can catch Matt Damon talking about the film with the Hollywood Reporter below - and hear what he has to say about shooting the first scenes for the next Bourne film:
