'Jurassic World' has dominated the global box office this week, but the really interesting story for us is in its 3D takings. According to RealD, the film earned 65% of its box office take outside the US from 3D screenings, and a very respectable 48% inside the US, signalling that 3D is alive and well and indeed kicking.
China was the biggest 3D market for the film by percentage of box office, with 95% of takings coming from the 3D version. Germany was a close second, on 89%.
"2015 will be remembered as a watershed year for this format with one of the strongest 3D slates we have ever seen," said RealD President Anthony Marcoly.
