The Last Emperor screens in 3D at AFI Fest.

Bernardo Bertolucci’s tour de force The Last Emperor was screened Sunday night as part of AFI Fest 2013 at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood, CA. Prime Focus World, which converted the film to 3D, attended the event. Bertolucci was present for the screening and had the opportunity to say a few words before the film. He referred to the conversion as an “innocent 3D” implying that audiences should not expect to see objects flying into their faces. “I think it’s a new life for this film,” Bertolucci said. “It will make you feel very much inside the Forbidden City.”
