Prime Focus presents at the
VES' 4th Annual CAVE event.
On November 19th, Prime Focus Film in Vancouver was one of the presenters at the VES’ 4th Annual Celebration of Animation and Visual Effects (CAVE) at District 319. The venue – once an abandoned old Asian movie house – is a stylish, state-of-the-art media facility that provided the perfect environment for the festive event.
The night began with a cocktail hour followed by entertaining presentations given by some of the VFX, animation and gaming studios from the area. Then CG Supervisor Todd Sheridan Perry presented a break-down of Prime Focus’ VFX work on the Warner Bros. film “Final Destination 5”. The opening sequences in the film were painstakingly created by Prime Focus over the course of 12 months, which also included pre-viz. The 20 minute presentation showcased the film’s opening sequence and Todd touched on some of the technical and creative challenges they encountered working with complex particle FX and fluid simulations for a stereoscopic film. The audience was enthralled by the presentation and Todd enjoyed the opportunity to showcase the results of their teams’ hard work!
Also presenting was Prime Focus’ Compositing Supervisor Shervin Shoghian who spoke on behalf of The Foundry and their suite of products.
It was a fun night and a wonderful opportunity to showcase Prime Focus' talents!
