Twentieth Century Fox has revealed the studio will be converting the Will Smith 1996 blockbuster Independence Day to 3D for a 2013 re-release. Possibly inspired by the massive success of Titanic 3D (to be released on 3D Blu-ray on September 14th) , the James Cameron 1997 hit that generated $344 million after a $18 million conversion, Fox will use the same company, Studio 3D, to replicate its success.
